Act now: Our local Green Belt is at risk
Taylor Wimpey has submitted a planning application to build on our Green Belt
ANY development on our Green Belt will...
-
Increase the spread of Greater London into Long Ditton and Hinchley Wood
-
Add pressure on local services, such as GP and hospital appointments
-
Add extra traffic on local roads and more congestion at the Hook roundabout
-
Increase air pollution
-
Cause loss of biodiverse green space
The fight to protect the Long Ditton and Hinchley Wood Green Belt has been ongoing for several years.
Whilst we have been successful in achieving Village Green status on some of green spaces, our larger Green Belt is still very much at risk.
Taylor Wimpey has submitted a planning application to build 150 dwellings in the area, arguing that a portion of the land should be reclassified from Green Belt to Grey Belt.
Development here risks setting a precedent for more extensive development – a real threat to the green buffer between Greater London and Surrey.
